On June 5, 2027, participants will have the unique opportunity to start their swim journey aboard a historic stream train that runs along the picturesque shores of this stunning body of water. The event offers five distinct distance options for swimmers of all levels: a challenging 9km route that covers two lengths of the lake, a standard 4.5km course starting from Llangower station after catching the scenic ride on the Bala Lake Railway, and three shorter distances—1.5km, 500m, and 250m—that are open to children aged eight years and older when accompanied by an adult swimmer. Swimmers will navigate a linear course marked with inflatable buoys for clear guidance as they make their way through the tranquil waters of Llyn Tegid. The shorter courses involve swimming out from the starting point, around an inflatable marker buoy, and back to the finish line. For those tackling the longer distances, there's a turnaround at Llangower station after one length before returning. Participants can choose between wetsuit or non-wetsuit categories depending on their preference and comfort level in the water. The event takes place amidst breathtaking scenery with views of the Aran, Arenig, and Berwyn mountain ranges providing an awe-inspiring backdrop to your swim.
