The ColyTEN is set for an exhilarating 10-mile journey across diverse terrains on Sunday, October 11th. Starting beside the serene River Coly, runners will begin their adventure with a scenic river path before transitioning to a brief road run towards Chantry Bridge. After crossing the bridge, participants enter Ox Woods and face a steep ascent that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Once at the summit, they'll encounter a short descent down Jobbles Lane into Morganhayes woodland. This undulating section features several challenging climbs and flat stretches along winding paths, providing an engaging mix for runners. Exiting the woods, the course flattens out with approximately three miles to go, all downhill or on level ground, including one mile of road running through picturesque scenery. The race concludes in a playing field where participants complete a lap around it before crossing the finish line to receive their well-deserved medals and refreshments. Race HQ opens at 08:00 for registration, number collection, and bag drop. Numbers must be pinned to the front of runners' vests with personal details filled out on the reverse side. On-site toilet facilities are provided, but headphones are not permitted during the race. Limited parking is available both on site and in Colyton town center or at Shiphay Farm (EX24 6EU), a short walk from Race HQ. Participants are encouraged to carpool where possible to reduce traffic congestion. Water stations will be set up at approximately 2.5 miles and 7.5 miles along the route, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout their run. A strict three-hour cut-off time is enforced for safety reasons. The event commemorates Phil Bayliss with trophies awarded to the first male and female finishers. Additional prizes are given to top competitors in various age categories: M/F overall, 1st-3rd Seniors, V40-65+. Proceeds from the race will benefit Devon Air Ambulance, supporting vital emergency services within the region. Organized by Axe Valley Runners and Colyton Football Club, this event promises a memorable day of camaraderie and athletic challenge for all participants. Runners should arrive at Race HQ between 9:30 AM to ensure they are present for the race briefing starting at 9:55 AM. Dogs are not allowed in the Race HQ area located at Peace Memorial Playing Fields.
