The Doone Run, organized by Ilfracombe Running Club, invites trail runners to explore Exmoor National Park's captivating landscapes and historic trails. Since its inception in 1983, this 10-mile race has delighted participants with a scenic journey from Watersmeet through the Valley of the Rocks. This year’s event promises an exhilarating mix of coastal paths, wooded riverbanks, and varied terrain that will challenge even the most seasoned runners. The course weaves through picturesque scenery, offering breathtaking views at every turn while testing your endurance on both trails and roads. Participants are encouraged to support ChemoHero (https://www.chemohero.org/), a local charity providing comfort boxes for chemotherapy patients starting their treatment journey in North Devon. For safety reasons, runners must reach the 5-mile checkpoint at The Olde Cottage Inn within one hour and twenty minutes. Those who do not meet this cut-off time will be withdrawn from the race to ensure everyone's well-being on the course. This event is sanctioned by the Trail Running Association under permit No: 8103, open only to runners aged sixteen or older. All participants receive a chip timing system for precise results and medals upon completion of their run. The first male and female finishers will have their names immortalized in the Doone Run trophy hall as well as awards given out to age category winners. With limited spots available—only 250 runners can join this year—it’s essential to secure your entry early to experience this unforgettable race day. Race details, including collection of bib numbers at Race HQ on event morning and comprehensive instructions via email a week before the run, will be provided to all participants. Please note that deferrals are not accepted for those who cannot attend once registered, unless we can reallocate your place after the race is full. Join us in celebrating this legendary trail running experience amidst Exmoor's natural beauty and rich history.

About Lynmouth
Learn more about the host city, Lynmouth.
Lynmouth is a village in Devon, England, on the northern edge of Exmoor. The village straddles the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers, in a gorge 700 feet (210 m) directly below the neighbouring town of Lynton, which was the only place to expand to once Lynmouth became as built-up as possible. The villages are connected by the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, which works two cable-connected cars by gravity, using water tanks.
