The Hardmoors 110 Ultramarathon, celebrating its 20th edition, is set to challenge runners with an unforgettable journey along the Cleveland Way National Trail. This iconic race traces a historic route from Helmsley to Filey, covering 111 miles in just 36 hours.
Starting at dawn on May 22, 2027, competitors will embark on this epic adventure through some of England's most stunning landscapes. The course winds its way across the Cleveland Hills and North York Moors, offering breathtaking views as it descends to the coast near Saltburn-by-the-Sea. From there, runners follow the dramatic Cleveland Heritage coastline, passing picturesque seaside towns such as Runswick Bay, Staithes, Whitby—famous for Bram Stoker’s inspiration—and Robin Hood's Bay before reaching Scarborough and finally finishing in Filey.
This route is not just a physical challenge but an immersive experience through rich historical and cultural sites. The race organizers have meticulously planned the event to ensure that participants can enjoy this unique setting while pushing their limits on rugged terrain and challenging trails.
Registration for this year’s Hardmoors 110 will take place from May 20, 2026, with specific entry periods reserved for those holding valid vouchers. For general entries, runners must register between September 27th at 19:00 and the end of September 30th by providing their voucher code during the process.
Participants can also opt to join a coach service from Filey to Helmsley on race morning, ensuring they arrive in time for the start. The coach departs Filey early at 6:00 AM, requiring runners to be there promptly at 5:50 AM to catch it.
