The Longest Light Endurance Challenge is set to illuminate the trails and parks around Spokane, offering runners an unparalleled opportunity to push their limits and explore the beauty of the region. This unique event invites participants into Phase One Mission territory, where resilience meets hope through a series of meticulously crafted courses designed for every level of endurance athlete. ### Event Overview The Longest Light is more than just a race; it's an immersive experience that challenges runners to train beyond their comfort zones and discover inner strength in the face of adversity. Held across multiple venues including Reardan Cross Country track, Riverside State Park, and Mt Spokane State Park, each location offers its own distinct terrain and scenery. ### Race Distances #### 101 Miler The ultimate test for seasoned ultrarunners is the 101 Miler course, consisting of 65 laps around a challenging loop that totals approximately 101.4 miles. Each lap measures about 1.56 miles and features varied terrain ranging from rolling hills to technical sections through wooded trails. Runners must complete at least 50 miles within the first 32 hours to qualify for this grueling challenge, with a mandatory midnight checkpoint. #### 100 Kilometer For those seeking a formidable yet achievable goal lies the 100K distance, encompassing 40 laps of approximately 1.56 miles each. The total race distance is precisely 100 kilometers, and participants must reach at least 45 miles within the first 24 hours to adhere to strict cutoff times. #### 50 Kilometer Ideal for runners looking to dip their toes into longer distances without committing fully, this course involves completing 20 laps around a similar loop as the other events. The total distance of 50 kilometers offers both scenic beauty and challenging terrain, rewarding participants with an exclusive patch upon completion. ### Shorter Distances #### 10K Run/Ruck A more accessible option is the 10K event, where runners complete four laps around a course that totals about 6.24 miles. This race also allows for rucking (carrying weight), but not exceeding 45 pounds, providing an additional layer of challenge. #### Kiddo Sprint The Hill Children are encouraged to participate in the Kiddo Sprint The Hill event, where they run from the start line up a short hill and back again, covering approximately .6 miles. This fun activity includes a visible finish point near the main aid station and is open for parents to join their children. ### Aid Stations Aid stations will be strategically placed along each course with essential supplies provided by Tailwind Nutrition and NeverSecond Gels. These include Endurance Fuel for liquid nutrition, 30g carb gels for sustained energy throughout long races, protein bars from 1st Phorm, and additional snacks to keep runners fueled. ### Gear & Support Participants are advised to bring their own headlamps, running gear, food, water, and electrolytes as the event promotes self-sufficiency. However, ample space is allocated for crew tents in designated areas near race locations. ### Registration Details Registration includes a Phase One Training Tee upon sign-up, with additional rewards like patches or buckles earned by completing specific distances. Check-in options are available on Friday from 3-5 PM at Fleet Feet @ Kendall Yards and Saturday morning starting at the race location before dawn. This event promises to be an unforgettable journey through some of Spokane’s most scenic routes while fostering a sense of community among participants who share a passion for endurance running.
