The Shortest Day

The Shortest Day is an innovative winter trail challenge set against the picturesque backdrop of Box Hill, Dorking. This unique race begins at dawn and continues until dusk, offering runners the opportunity to tackle a 10-mile loop with approximately 2,400 feet of elevation gain per lap.
Participants have complete control over their distance; they can stop after any number of loops once daylight fades around sunset (~15:53). The race starts as soon as the sun rises at about 8:03 AM. Whether you are a beginner looking to dip your toes into trail running or an experienced ultra-runner aiming for a personal best, this event caters to all levels and ambitions.
Safety is paramount with full insurance coverage provided along with comprehensive medical support throughout the course. Aid stations will be strategically placed to offer runners hydration, snacks, and encouragement as they push through challenging terrain under winter conditions.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants are awarded a commemorative medal celebrating their achievement in this one-of-a-kind endurance event.
