About the Event

Trails For Good invites runners to explore the picturesque Peak District this autumn with its Cheese & Crackers Trail Run, set against the backdrop of Hartington village. This charming Sunday morning race offers two routes: an 8.4km short course and a more challenging 16.4km long course.
Participants can choose from start times between 09:00-10:30am to enjoy smaller groups on the trails, ensuring plenty of space at scenic viewpoints along the way. The shorter route showcases Beresford Dale and parts of Wolfscote Dale, while runners tackling the longer distance will venture deeper into Wolfscote Dale before scaling a steep ascent up to the Tissington Trail for breathtaking views.
Both routes wind through lush green valleys and historic villages, culminating near Hartington YHA. Upon finishing, participants are welcomed back at Hartington Village Hall with hot drinks and snacks, including samples of local award-winning cheese. Runners can then visit the nearby Hartington Cheese Shop by the village pond to collect their complimentary goodie bag filled with more cheese, crackers, and a 5cl bottle of port.
All runners must be over 18 years old. Long course participants are required to carry mandatory kit for safety, while short route runners should dress appropriately for the terrain and weather conditions (details available on our website).
This event supports environmental initiatives through partnerships with the Peak District Foundation, ensuring that race entry fees contribute directly towards nature regeneration and trail maintenance in the park.
The Cheese & Crackers Trail Run is conducted under UK Athletics rules and has been licensed by the Trail Running Association.
