The Watermoo is an 111-mile cycling adventure set amidst the picturesque farmlands of southeastern Michigan. This challenging race offers a unique blend of gravel paths, tarmac sections, and stretches that are no longer roads—complete with a river crossing to add a touch of excitement. The terrain can be hilly in spots, making it an honest test for both seasoned cyclists and those looking to push their limits. Participants will gather at Jolly Pumpkin + Kitchen on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, starting the race in two waves: one at 6:11 am for riders averaging 14 mph or slower, and another at 7:11 am for those aiming for a faster pace. The start and finish line are conveniently located right outside Jolly Pumpkin + Kitchen on Bishop Circle East. The route is not marked; therefore, it’s essential to upload the course details onto your Garmin GPS device before setting off. About three-quarters of the way through the race, you can refuel at the Adams Sports Medicine feed station if needed. The challenge lies in navigating this open-road course that occasionally presents loose and sandy sections. All riders will receive a colorful aluminum sign featuring one of the roads from their route upon completion—a memento to cherish for years to come. This event caters to all skill levels, offering an opportunity for participants to seed themselves based on desired average speeds throughout the day. The race is governed by strict rules: no aero bars and self-supported riding only. Register before April 11th at $88 for early bird pricing; prices increase after June 11th to $99, with registration closing August 1st. Junior riders (aged 18 and under) can participate free of charge by contacting the race director. For those who miss out or need a refund before July 11th, full refunds are available. However, no refunds will be given after that date, though entries can be transferred to another participant. The overall results will be provided by Plot Gnar Promotions and can be found online post-race. Mark your calendars for August 8th, 2026, as this event promises a memorable cycling experience in the beautiful Michigan countryside.
