Present by the Sons of Italy Lodge #146 On October 11, the Lock Haven-area community comes together for the 2nd annual Trail of Honor: Cody Myers Memorial Race , an event created to celebrate the life and legacy of CPT Cody Myers. A soldier, mentor, devoted family man, and lover of the outdoors, Cody lived a life defined by service, leadership, integrity, and a commitment to helping others. Now, runners, hikers, and ruckers can gather on the trails Cody loved to remember his impact and help carry his values forward. With two course options, a welcoming atmosphere, and an afternoon community celebration to follow, this is a race built around much more than the finish line. All proceeds benefit the Cody Myers Legacy Scholarship , supporting graduating seniors in the Keystone Central School District who demonstrate leadership, integrity, and a commitment to mentoring others.
Choose your distance and spend a fall morning on the trails at the Sons of Italy Campground in the Mill Hall, Pennsylvania area. The Trail of Honor offers two course options: a long course measuring 8.7 miles and a short course measuring 4.55 miles. The long course follows an out-and-back route and features approximately 334 feet of elevation gain. The route combines dirt and trail and is described as flat and fast overall, with a gradual climb building toward the middle of the course before runners turn around and make their way back toward the finish. The short course covers 4.55 miles with approximately 119 feet of elevation gain, making it an approachable option for runners who want a shorter trail experience or are newer to trail racing. The long course includes the Savage Aid Station at approximately mile 2.25 and the turnaround aid station at approximately mile 4.25. Runners then retrace the route toward the finish. The shorter course provides a scaled-back way to experience the event while still enjoying the trails and community atmosphere. Both courses are designed to be accessible and runnable rather than highly technical. Whether you want to push the pace, enjoy a steady trail run, hike the route, or take on the course as a rucker, the emphasis is on getting outside and being part of the day. And in early October, the setting should provide a fitting backdrop: crisp fall air, changing leaves, and the woods Cody enjoyed so much.
The long course features two stocked aid stations: Savage Aid Station at approximately mile 2.25 and the Turnaround Aid Station at approximately mile 4.25. Aid stations will provide water, electrolytes, and light trail snacks. Volunteers will be on the course to help with directions and basic support, and the route will be clearly marked. The event welcomes runners, hikers, and ruckers.
The Trail of Honor is intentionally a community-first trail race. It's timed, but the goal isn't to create a high-pressure racing environment. Whether you're chasing a finish time, completing your first trail race, hiking with friends, or rucking the course, you'll be part of an event centered on connection and remembrance. The start and finish area will bring together Cody's family, friends, fellow runners, and members of the local community. The race is an opportunity to spend time outdoors, share the trails Cody loved, and support a scholarship that keeps his legacy working for future generations. And once you've crossed the finish line, the day continues.
After the race, join the community at the Lock Haven VFW for an afternoon of food, music, raffles, and fellowship. Doors open at 12:00 PM , with: Basket raffle and live auction Raffle for a 5-foot custom wood eagle carving Live music by Red Wednesday , beginning at 3:00 PM Chicken BBQ Pasta salad Baked beans Dessert Cash bar Admission is $5 for Trail of Honor race participants and $10 for non-race participants . It's a chance to keep the celebration going, connect with the people who make this event possible, and continue supporting the Cody Myers Legacy Scholarship.
All proceeds from the Trail of Honor benefit the Cody Myers Legacy Scholarship , administered by the Keystone Central Foundation. The scholarship helps graduating seniors in the Keystone Central School District who lead with integrity and mentor others—the same qualities Cody demonstrated throughout his life, military service, work with ROTC, and relationships with family and friends. The first Trail of Honor made an immediate difference. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, the inaugural event helped provide three Cody Myers Legacy Scholarships to Central Mountain High School students. This year's event continues that mission, helping ensure Cody's legacy reaches future generations. Can't make it to the race but still want to contribute?
