Nestled off the coast of Portugal lies Madeira Island, an autonomous gem within the Macaronesia region. This lush oasis is just under 400 kilometers north of the Canary Islands and approximately 520 kilometers west of Morocco. Known for its dramatic landscapes, Ultra X Madeira offers runners a unique challenge through breathtaking terrain.
The event spans mid-November when temperatures are temperate, ranging from around 9°C to 21°C. Participants can choose among four distinct races: an epic two-stage adventure covering 110 kilometers, and three single-day options of 60km, 50km, and a more accessible yet scenic 25km route.
The course weaves through the island’s verdant landscapes, featuring rugged cliffs that plunge into the North Atlantic Ocean. Runners will encounter natural pools carved from lava rock, charming towns with rich cultural heritage, and diverse ecosystems teeming with flora and fauna unique to this volcanic paradise. The terrain varies widely, offering both challenging ascents and descents across a spectrum of elevations.
