The Conway Riverfest 5K returns to Conway, South Carolina on June 22nd... The Whistler Turkey Trot celebrates Community, Movement and Nature in its 9th annual run through Lost Lake Park, the crown jewel of Whistler's park system. This family-friendly event offers a 5km for adults and a Kids K for younger runners, winding through some of Whistler’s best trails on Sunday October 11th.
Race morning at Lost Lake Park finds participants greeted by the crisp autumn air, with temperatures hovering around 7.5°C (20°F). The atmosphere is one of anticipation as families gather to support each other and celebrate Thanksgiving week. The event kicks off early in the morning when runners can be seen warming up on the park’s trails, preparing for their respective distances.
The Whistler Turkey Trot has been a local tradition since its inception nine years ago by the Whistler Friends Society, now proudly stewarded by SEA2SKY Events. Over these years, thousands of participants have run alongside one another, raising funds to support Crohn's and Colitis Canada. This event matters deeply within the community as it brings together families, friends, and neighbors in a festive celebration that has become a beloved part of Whistler’s annual calendar.
The course venue offers a mix of terrain suitable for all skill levels. The 5km Drumstick Dash begins at Lost Lake Park and follows established trails through dense forests, past serene lakes, and along winding paths where participants will have the opportunity to enjoy stunning views while running in nature's embrace. For those aiming for more distance, the 10km Gravy Burner offers a similar experience but with an additional loop that extends further into the park.
At race start, runners line up at Lost Lake Park, facing a modest elevation gain of approximately 45 meters (148 feet). The course features one water station along the 10km route to ensure hydration for all participants. Upon finishing, runners receive a finisher’s medal and can enjoy post-race snacks and hot beverages.
