In both memory and honor of William “Wild Bill” Sonner, Seven Oaks and the Stonehenge HOA is proud to hold our sixth annual Wild Bill 5k in 2026. Wild Bill was a coach, mentor and community leader in Raleigh for decades. The same passion that made Wild Bill an All-American athlete at NC State, made him a beloved Raleigh fixture for nearly 70 years. While his forte was swimming, Wild Bill was well known for running daily, no matter how hot the summer days got. Wild Bill was relentless and we wish to harness that energy to raise money for good causes in his honor.
The 5k course has been certified by USATF and issued course number NC21006BDS. An easily viewable course map is linked below and HERE using mapmyrun.

Learn more about the host city, Raleigh.
The capital of North Carolina and the largest city of the Research Triangle, Raleigh is the primary political and economic driver of the metro area. Indeed, business and politics are the main draws to Raleigh, which lacks the more trendy feel or active arts scene of Durham or Chapel Hill to the west. However, a concerted effort to expand the residential base and move events downtown has led to significantly expanded retail and restaurant options in the downtown core. Also, visitors will find many of the state's cultural institutions here, namely a major performing arts center downtown and three state museums, and a college town atmosphere in the neighborhood around the campus of North Carolina State University, the state's largest university.
