WILD DEER EPIC GRAVEL RIDES

Welcome to the inaugural Wild Deer Epic Gravel Rides, set to take place in 2026. This brand-new gravel sportive promises an unforgettable adventure through some of North East England's most stunning landscapes. The race starts at Blaydon Rugby Club, located at Crow Trees Ground in Swalwell, Newcastle upon Tyne (NE16 3BN). Participants can find the exact location using Google Maps or by entering "///major.easy.bought" into a what3words app for precise directions. The event offers two distances: a shorter 50km route and an extended 100km ride.
Route details will be available online, but participants should note that final routes may undergo minor adjustments before the day of the race. Detailed maps will be sent to all registered riders via email in advance so they can familiarize themselves with the course layout.
The event starts between 8AM and 9AM, allowing longer-distance cyclists and slower-paced riders to begin earlier for a more comfortable pace. A strict cut-off time of 5:30 PM ensures that participants complete their ride before sunset.
Throughout both routes, fully stocked feed stations will provide essential fuel stops with snacks, fruit, sweets, chocolate, and drink refills to keep energy levels high during the journey. Live chip-timing by Timing Up North guarantees accurate results for all competitors.
