Join us on August 28, 2027, in Lexington, Nebraska, for the second annual Wiley Canyon Ultramarathon and accompanying 10K & 5K runs. Founded by Joel Kinney of Prairie Sky Gravel LLC, this event celebrates gravel racing in central Nebraska with a challenging yet scenic course. The ultramarathon spans approximately 35 miles, starting and finishing at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park in Lexington. Runners will navigate through picturesque Wiley Canyon, encountering both flat stretches and significant hills along the way. The race transitions from paved roads to rugged gravel paths, offering an authentic taste of Nebraska’s rural landscape. Aid stations are strategically placed every 4-5 miles, providing essential hydration, nutrition, and support for ultramarathoners. Participants can also drop off a bag at the halfway point aid station for mid-race resupply. The weather in August is notoriously hot with minimal shade, so runners should prepare by bringing plenty of water, electrolyte supplements, sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats to stay cool and hydrated throughout the day. Registration includes an event t-shirt, which can be reserved online before August 1st to ensure your preferred size. Packet pickup will take place at the Grand Generation Center on Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with limited availability for race-day check-in by prior arrangement only. Lexington offers a variety of lodging options and local eateries, ensuring runners have everything they need before the big day. The city’s central location also provides easy access to Johnson Lake Recreation Area for those who prefer camping nearby. Remember, this is a self-supported event with no outside aid allowed on course. Embrace the spirit of gravel racing by staying safe, respecting property boundaries, and adhering strictly to road rules throughout your journey through Wiley Canyon.
