Immerse yourself in one of Yorkshire's most beloved themed running events: the Winter Season Saunter along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. This scenic race offers something for every level, from beginners to seasoned athletes looking to chase personal bests. The course is a flat and picturesque out-and-back route on the historic canal trail, making it an ideal setting for runners of all abilities. The event features seven different distances, ranging from 5K to ultra-marathon, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Participants can enjoy stunning views along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal while taking in the charm of Kirkstall. The race is fully licensed by the Trail Running Association and includes well-marked paths with marshals stationed throughout, providing a safe environment for all participants. Feed and drink stations are strategically placed every three miles, allowing runners to stay hydrated and energized without carrying their own supplies—a reusable cup or bottle will be essential as this is a "cup-less" event. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to bespoke medals and treats that celebrate their achievement. The atmosphere at the race combines a fun community vibe with serious competition, attracting both families and dedicated athletes alike. Getting there couldn’t be easier thanks to nearby Headingley train station for those arriving by rail or Morrisons car park for drivers who prefer driving. Participants are encouraged to arrive early—registration opens at 8am—and parking should be arranged in advance as no spaces are available near the start/finish line. Safety is a top priority, with strict rules against over-ear headphones and clear instructions regarding road crossings where marshals may not always be present. For those who need assistance during the race or wish to make changes before the event day, online options for transfers and deferrals can be utilized through the official website. Join the Grim Up North Chat group on Facebook for updates, FAQs, and a chance to connect with fellow runners sharing spooky training stories in preparation for this magical winter-themed run. Don’t miss out on an unforgettable experience along one of Yorkshire’s most scenic trails! Registration Location: ///shout.rally.loaf Registration opens at 8am – please allow ample time to park, register, and prepare. Cup-less event: Bring your own reusable bottle/cup. Headphones: Bone-conducting or one-in-one-out earbuds only for safety reasons.
