Woodpecker Six

Immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of Linn County's Pinicon Ridge Park for the Woodpecker Six, an endurance challenge set against the backdrop of Iowa’s picturesque landscape. This six-hour race invites runners to explore nearly 12 miles over a series of loops through dense woodlands and rolling hills.
The course is a circuitous trail loop spanning approximately 1.2 miles within Pinicon Ridge Park's expansive 966 acres, featuring two significant climbs that challenge even the most seasoned athletes with steep inclines and wooden staircases scattered along the way. Each lap includes roughly 215 feet of elevation gain, making this race a true test of endurance.
Scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, participants will have ample time to navigate the course in both directions as it changes every two hours. Whether you're aiming to conquer your first half marathon or simply push beyond your limits, this race offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and exploration.
A variety of hearty hot foods and cold beverages await at the start/finish line, ensuring that runners are fueled throughout their journey. Every participant will receive a long-sleeve race shirt upon registration, while those who complete an impressive 24 loops or more can look forward to special recognition. The Woodpecker Lodge provides indoor space for runner drop bags within its heated facility and ample outdoor areas for canopy setup.
Prepare yourself for all weather conditions as the event proceeds regardless of rain or snow. Spectators are welcome but must adhere to guidelines prohibiting pets and strollers from joining on course. Secure your race shirt by registering before Sunday, October 25th at midnight to guarantee availability.
