Step onto the legendary grounds of Scotland with the William Wallace 70km Ultra, an epic journey through history that invites runners to tread in the footsteps of heroes. This challenging race loops around historic Stirling, weaving past iconic sites like the Battle of Bannockburn and Stirling Castle. The course is a mixed-terrain loop starting near the imposing Wallace Monument under the Ochil Hills' shadow. It winds its way through the Campsie Fells, ascends to Lewis Hill above North Third Reservoir, passes Kings Park—once a royal hunting ground—and continues past ancient gardens at Kings Knott and into Stirling Castle overlooking the River Forth. The route also takes runners by Kier Estate where Sir David Stirling of the SAS once resided, through Bridge of Allan village, up to Cockburn Reservoir in the Ochil Hills, and Jerah Forest before looping back via Blairlogie, Wallace Monument, Cambuskenneth Abbey, and a riverside path. Aid stations are strategically placed along the route at 3 or 6 relay stage changeover points with additional checkpoints ensuring runners have adequate time to complete each leg. The race is designed for both solo participants and teams of three or six members, offering flexibility in how you tackle this monumental challenge. Participants will receive a finisher's medal and a race t-shirt upon completion. Live GPS tracking allows friends and family to follow your progress throughout the event. Post-race catering at the finish line promises a celebratory atmosphere that complements the festival vibe of the day. To ensure safety, mandatory kit requirements are detailed in the athlete guide due to Scotland’s unpredictable October weather conditions which can range from warm sun to cold rain or both! The race organizers will finalize cut-off times based on prevailing weather conditions before the start, with an overall time limit set at 14 hours. Registration is open for runners aged 18 and over who are in good health. Entry requirements include agreeing to participate entirely at your own risk.
