Immerse yourself in the rolling landscapes and rich history of Suffolk with The Great Barrow Challenge, hosted by Zig Zag Running at the picturesque Suffolk Running Centre on Church Road, Bury St Edmunds. This unique 10-day series offers a range of distances to suit every runner’s pace and preference—from 5k sprints to full marathons and ultra-marathon adventures. On Day Eight, participants will tackle the Mill Wind Half Route, weaving through scenic countryside trails that showcase Suffolk's natural beauty. Each day brings a new challenge with varied routes such as Denham Flats for its flat terrain, Kirtling’s winding paths, and the exhilarating Gallops route known for its undulating hills. Registration is open on an individual basis per day, allowing runners to choose their preferred distances including 5k and 10k options that predominantly use Golding Hills. The event includes parking at no extra cost, ensuring a seamless transition from your vehicle straight into the heart of the race. Competitors will start and finish near Race HQ/Base Camp where water stations are strategically placed along the route to keep you hydrated throughout your run. A highlight for every participant is receiving a bespoke medal upon completion of each day’s event, celebrating their achievement in style. This year, The Great Barrow Challenge goes "cupless," encouraging runners to bring reusable bottles or cups to support sustainability and reduce waste during the race. Join us at Suffolk Running Centre as we explore the diverse terrain and stunning views that make this series a must for any runner looking to experience the best of Suffolk.
