Run For Cake returns to Ferry Meadows in Peterborough for its fourth year, offering runners an unforgettable experience across one of the largest country parks in the region. Situated less than three miles from the city center and within Nene Park's scenic landscapes, Ferry Meadows provides a perfect backdrop for this unique endurance event. Participants have two start times to choose from: 9 AM or 11 AM, allowing them six hours and four hours respectively to run as far as they can on a multi-terrain course. The loop measures 5.3 kilometers, winding through the park's forested areas with a mix of gravel paths and grassy sections. Runners are encouraged to take breaks at Base Camp whenever needed; just ensure you leave by 5:59 PM if aiming for additional laps. The event is ideal for runners looking to tackle their first marathon distance or push beyond it in an ultra-marathon setting without the usual challenges of trail navigation and kit management. Aid stations will be available every lap, ensuring easy access to water and other essentials throughout your run. Upon arrival at Ferry Meadows, park near the main toilet block where you'll find race registration with clear signs guiding participants through setup procedures. A baggage drop area is provided but left items should not contain valuables as they are unsecured. The event's Race HQ/Base Camp will be bustling with activity, serving as a central hub for runners to rest and refuel. The terrain at Ferry Meadows ranges from country park footpaths to grassy areas, making it suitable for both road running shoes and trail options depending on weather conditions leading up to the race day. Each finisher receives a specially designed medal commemorating their achievement. For those unable to attend but still eager to earn this recognition, virtual spaces are available exclusively through Zig Zag Running's website. Ferry Meadows is easily accessible via Ham Lane or its postcode PE2 5UU, just west of Peterborough and near the A1 motorway intersection. Look for brown tourist attraction signs leading you directly into Nene Park. Parking at Ferry Meadows comes with a charge but provides ample space to accommodate all participants comfortably during this inspiring event. Join us at Run For Cake as we celebrate endurance running in one of England's most picturesque settings!
