2026 Great Lakes to Greenbelt Farm Fresh Ride – featuring one day Pedalling and one day Paddling

Experience the beauty and charm of rural Ontario through two distinct adventures over a weekend filled with cycling, paddling, and cultural immersion.
Saturday: Rural on the Ridge Cycling Event
Start your adventure early Saturday morning at Ridge Road Estate Winery near Stoney Creek. The day offers cyclists two options to choose from:
- A 43km loop that winds along flat paved country roads perfect for all types of bicycles.
- For those who prefer a shorter ride, there's also a scenic 20km route featuring the Dofasco Trail and Ridge Road.
Both routes highlight the unique heritage attractions and rural businesses in the area. The longer route showcases stunning lakefront views while both rides feature rest stops serving fresh local produce and apple cider from nearby orchards. Upon completion of your ride, enjoy a light lunch accompanied by a glass of wine or soft drink at the finish line back at Ridge Road Estate Winery.
Registration for this cycling event includes all meals and beverages provided during the day's activities along with an entry fee that covers administrative costs. Helmets are mandatory; participants without helmets will not be allowed to ride.
Sunday: Grand River Paddle Experience
On Sunday, join Six Nations Tourism for a 3-hour canoe trip down the historic Grand River in Ohsweken, led by indigenous guides who provide insightful historical and cultural knowledge about the river's significance. The day begins with mandatory safety training before you set off on your paddle adventure.
The guided tour covers approximately three kilometers along the riverbank, where participants will learn traditional teachings that are still relevant today while gaining a deeper understanding of Six Nations culture. After paddling, enjoy lunch prepared by Chef David from DEVOUR Food Co., an indigenous chef known for using locally sourced and foraged ingredients to create unique culinary experiences.
This event is designed not only as a recreational activity but also as a cultural exchange that celebrates the rich heritage of the area through food and storytelling.
