2026 McIntosh 10km & 25km

About the Event

Welcome to All Out Trail Racing at McIntosh Trails, where you'll experience an exhilarating blend of nature and community spirit as part of the fifth edition of this beloved trail race. The McIntosh Run Single Track Trail System is not just a route but a testament to local efforts by the Macintosh Run Watershed Association (MRWA) aimed at preserving natural beauty while providing accessible trails for all.
The 2026 event offers two courses: a challenging yet inviting 10km and an expansive 25km loop. Both routes share sections of this meticulously maintained trail system, which features predominantly hard-surfaced paths with just enough roots and rocks to add interest. Runners will navigate through the twists and turns of these trails, offering stunning views of Halifax Harbour and Flat Lake.
The McIntosh Trails are a unique setting that was once damaged by a forest fire but has since been rejuvenated into a vibrant network of natural-surface pathways. The terrain is diverse, winding through forests, granite barrens, and wetlands. This course caters to all levels of runners—from beginners taking on their first trail race to seasoned athletes looking for a challenge.
Participants are advised to prepare for any weather conditions, as the event proceeds regardless of the elements. Ice and snow can make the trails slippery, so it's recommended that runners bring traction aids like slip-on spikes or studded shoes if necessary.
Registration is expected to fill up quickly due to past popularity. Sign-in opens at 7:30 am on race day with a cutoff time for bib collection at 8:45 am. The start times are staggered, beginning at 9:00 am and continuing every ten minutes thereafter to ensure runners have ample space during the initial kilometers.
Aid stations will be available along both courses; notably, there is an aid station near the 14km mark of the longer route providing water, Skratch hydration mix, and other essentials. Prizes are awarded for podium finishers in both races as well as over-50 age group winners (male and female), adding extra excitement to your run.
The MRWA plays a crucial role not only by maintaining these trails but also by fostering community involvement through volunteering opportunities and educational programs on trail construction techniques. Their dedication ensures that the McIntosh Run Watershed remains protected while offering recreational benefits for all users.
Join us at McIntosh Trails this October 24th, 2026, for a day filled with adventure, camaraderie, and unforgettable scenery. Don't miss out—register early to secure your spot in what promises to be an inspiring event celebrating both nature and community.
