About the Event

Since 2002, the Windmühlenberglauf has been an annual fixture on the local running calendar. Initially starting as a 10km loop through fields behind the stadium, the course was adjusted due to development around Kerksiek and now winds its way southward towards Sülfeld along the canal before returning back to the start.
The race is part of the Laufcup Gifhorn-Wolfsburg series. In recent years, a shorter 6.5km route has been added for those looking for a more manageable distance while still enjoying the scenic countryside around Fallersleben. Both routes begin and end at the stadium with participants aged 14 and older (AK U16) eligible to participate.
For younger runners, there's also a children’s race over 2.5km which is open to kids from ages 8 through 19 (AK U20). New for this year are two shorter races inside the stadium: an approximately 800m run for primary school-aged children and a fun-filled 400m dash designed specifically for kindergarten-age participants.
All routes take runners on paved paths that wind around Fallersleben, offering scenic views of fields and forests. The event celebrates its heritage with traditional start times in the stadium, where all races conclude back at their starting point.
