The Gaststätte Zur Mühle Race is set to challenge runners with its scenic and varied 46.8-kilometer route, taking place on the outskirts of Wallenhorst (formerly Knollmeyer), Germany. The race begins at 8:00 AM from the parking lot adjacent to Im Nettetal 4, where participants will embark on a course that winds through local forests and alongside babbling brooks.
The event features six laps around a single loop of approximately 7.8 kilometers each, with runners passing by the starting point every circuit for easy access to their personal belongings stored in cars parked nearby. There are no official aid stations along the way; instead, participants must bring their own supplies and be prepared to carry them throughout.
The terrain is predominantly unpaved trails and dirt paths, offering a mix of woodland scenery and quiet moments by waterways. The route has been recently updated with more natural elements compared to its inaugural edition, reducing asphalt sections for an even more immersive experience in the countryside.
Runners should prepare for potential encounters with pedestrians, cyclists, and horseback riders along their journey, as well as be mindful that some stretches of road may still see vehicular traffic. The race is timed manually by Irina Meyer at each lap checkpoint near the start/finish area, ensuring accurate results despite the lack of electronic timing.
Participants must self-register via the Race Result platform before 6 PM on the day prior to the event if spots are available; entry fees can be paid in cash upon arrival. Results and certificates will also be managed through this system post-race.
