The Görlitz-Zgorzelec European Marathon invites teams from companies, universities, clubs, and other organizations to participate in an exciting 5 km team relay race. This unique event is set to take place at the historic Stadion der Freundschaft on Zittauer Strasse 88 in Görlitz. Teams can consist of three to five runners, with options for all-female, all-male, and mixed teams. Mixed teams must include at least one female or male runner. The race features a scenic route that winds through the city's landmarks including the Stadion der Freundschaft, Inselweg, Zittauer Strasse, Goethestraße, Dr. Kahlbaum-Allee, Neißeradweg, and Volksbad. The event starts at 18:00 for walkers, followed by women’s teams starting at 18:15, mixed teams at 18:30, and men's teams beginning their race at 18:45. The registration fee is €15 per participant, payable via direct debit, PayPal, or credit card. Participants must be born in the year 2008 or earlier to qualify for entry into this competitive yet friendly event. Teams are encouraged to register online through the RaceResult portal on www.europamarathon.de before the deadline of August 31st, as there is a strict limit of 1204 participants (with room reserved based on team strength). On-site registration will be available from September 16th at 15:00 to 16:30 for those who have not yet registered online. Each participating team receives the opportunity to take part in a group photograph and collect an award trophy as a memento. Team leaders are responsible for ensuring that all members of their teams understand the event rules and conditions, including liability waivers. The race offers awards such as certificates and prizes for the top three teams across various categories, including walkers. Additionally, there will be special recognition given to the oldest male and female runners in attendance. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal upon crossing the line. To ensure smooth operations on the day of the event, team members should gather promptly at their designated times for photos and pre-race preparations. The race uses its own timing system for accurate results. For companies interested in setting up promotional stands within the venue (3x3 meters), a participation fee of €50 is required to cover costs. Interested parties can contact joerg@europamarathon.de to receive an application form, which must be returned before securing a spot at the event. Participants are reminded that no refunds will be issued if registered runners cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances. The venue offers limited parking in its outer area, and vehicles should adhere strictly to designated pathways when accessing or leaving the stadium grounds. By registering for this event, participants agree to allow their data and images captured during participation to be used for promotional purposes related to the European Marathon without any compensation claims. It is imperative that all runners are adequately insured before participating in the race due to no coverage provided by organizers for medical expenses incurred as a result of injury or illness sustained during the competition. Join us at this dynamic event where teamwork and camaraderie take center stage, offering an unforgettable experience amidst Görlitz’s vibrant atmosphere.

About Görlitz
Learn more about the host city, Görlitz.
Görlitz is Germany's easternmost town. It sits across the Neiße River from its Polish sister city of Zgorzelec. It is very well preserved, and survived the Second World War more or less intact. A lot of money has been invested to restore the city's old town, making it one of the best preserved towns in Central Europe.
