9. Lengericher Ultratrail am Neujahrstag

Lengericher Ultratrail is an exhilarating ultramarathon that winds through the picturesque Tecklenburger Land region near Gemptturm with its distinctive water tower. The race begins and concludes at Großer Parkplatz Gempthalle, just a stone's throw away from Altes Pastorat in Lengerich.
Scheduled for early morning on January 1st, participants will start their journey at 9:00 AM, shortly after the sun rises at around 8:37 AM. The course is designed to be challenging yet rewarding, with runners completing two laps of a 23-kilometer loop featuring approximately 480 meters in elevation gain.
Each lap takes competitors through varied terrain including trails, paths, fields, and even some asphalt within the towns they pass by. Highlights include scenic routes along rocky outcrops and around Tecklenburg itself. The route is meticulously crafted to showcase both natural beauty and historical landmarks of the region.
Timing for this event will be conducted manually by Susanne Laig, ensuring an accurate record of each runner's performance. Participants who finish within a 9-hour window plus any additional leeway granted by organizers are eligible for medals and certificates; however, only the first 36 registrants receive the medal as part of their prize.
Entry fees are €18 for full distance runners and €12 for half marathon participants, with refunds possible under certain conditions if cancellation occurs before December 1st. Any surplus funds collected will be donated to Lengericher Tafel e.V., a local charity organization dedicated to food assistance programs.
Runners must carry their own supplies throughout the race, utilizing vehicles parked at designated areas nearby for resupply needs. A volunteer checkpoint providing water and snacks like oat cookies, Haribo candies, peanuts, and energy bars will be set up around kilometer 12 along each lap of the course.
