Join the festive fun at Aberdeen Beach Front for the annual Aberdeen Santa Run 5k! Set to take place on Sunday, December 13th, this event is all about spreading holiday cheer and enjoying a unique running experience. Whether you run, walk, or simply savor every step along the beach front promenade, everyone is welcome.
Registration opens at 9:15 AM with warm-up activities starting at 10:20 AM ahead of the race start time of 10:30 AM. Participants will receive a Santa suit to wear during their run or walk and can collect it upon registration from one of the gazebos set up near the Footdee end of the promenade.
The course is designed for all ages, with families encouraged to participate together. The route begins at the southern tip of Aberdeen Beach Front and heads north along the lower promenade past Codonas Amusements and the historic Beach Ballroom. Runners will then ascend steps leading up to the upper promenade before descending back down to complete their journey.
For those who prefer a flat course, there are no obstacles preventing you from sticking to the lower promenade throughout your run or walk. The event staff includes marshals ready to assist with buggies and other equipment if needed at any point during this scenic route.
At the finish line near where it all began, participants will be greeted by giant Santa figures who hand out medals along with refreshments like water. Additional treats may also await you there as a token of appreciation for taking part in such an uplifting event.
Parking options include spots available on both sides of Beach Front Road and at nearby Queen’s Links Leisure Park or Beach Boulevard Retail Park, though charges apply if staying beyond four hours. Public transportation is accessible via the number 13 bus and CS1 services from several key locations around Aberdeen city center.
Supporting local charities remains a core component of this event; donations in food items can be left directly with representatives of Aberdeen Cyrenians' Food Bank stationed near the start line on race day.
Please note that while there’s no official timing system, a clock will mark your personal finish time. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and joy rather than competition, making it ideal for runners looking to embrace holiday spirit in a unique way amidst Aberdeen's charming coastal setting.
