Åredalen Inclines 2026 - motbakkelopserie

Welcome to the third season of Åredalen Inclines, an exhilarating series of gravel track races set against the stunning backdrop of Sweden’s mountains. Each Wednesday throughout August, runners will take on challenging ascents through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the region.
The first race kicks off on 5th August at Duved, where participants start from Linbanan valley station and climb to the top station for breathtaking views. The following week, on 12th August, Tegefjäll welcomes runners who begin their ascent near Tegetornet through charming village streets before reaching Tegeliftens top lift station.
On 19th August, Åre VM:6 hosts a challenging route that winds its way up to Hummelstugen via rugged gravel paths. The final race on 26th August also starts from the same location but takes runners on an enchanting journey through Fjällgården before reaching Sadlelnlift station.
Registration opens at 5 PM each week, with a mass start promptly at 6 PM. Entry fees are affordable: SEK 250 for all races or SEK 75 per race if registered in advance of the day. Late entries cost SEK 85 per race and can be made until 17:45 on race days.
Participants have a variety of categories to choose from, including Men’s, Women’s, non-binary, Masters (born 1975 or earlier), and Youth (U18) divisions. Runners may also opt for stroller runs, canicross with dogs, or even use wheelchairs. Those in wheelchairs are permitted up to three assistants.
While the primary goal is reaching the summit, there’s a special touch at Åredalen Inclines: runners jog back down and collect litter along the way to help keep these beautiful trails clean. This initiative adds an extra layer of community spirit to each race day.
Though individual weekly prizes are not awarded, overall series winners will receive impressive accolades based on cumulative points earned across all four races. The top finisher in the total standings earns 100 points, with decreasing values for second and subsequent places down to one point per position.
Each participant receives a unique number that remains consistent throughout the entire season, allowing everyone to track their progress from week to week. Results are recorded using RaceID Timing app technology at checkpoints along the course and upon crossing the finish line.
While there won’t be any aid stations en route, runners can look forward to refreshments like cookies and juice awaiting them after each climb. Participants should leave extra clothing or gear near the start location if needed for their post-race comfort.
Dress appropriately based on weather conditions; a rain jacket might come in handy depending on forecasts leading up to race day. Organizers will make final decisions by 5 PM before each event and relay this information accordingly.
