Beignet 5K

The Beignet 5K Run/Walk returns to Geneva, Illinois on September 24th, 2026. The race begins at Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve behind the Kane County Government Center in downtown Geneva.
Race morning finds runners and walkers gathering under clear skies with a hint of autumn chill. The forest preserve offers a serene setting with its lush greenery and scenic trails, making for an invigorating start to your run or walk through the park.
The event has been running since 2015, contributing significantly to local community initiatives. This year marks its eleventh edition, attracting hundreds of participants who come together not just for a race but also to support Geneva Community Chest with proceeds from the event. The tradition continues as it brings people from all walks of life under one banner.
The course winds through Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve, offering a five-kilometer journey that is both challenging and rewarding. The terrain features firm and slightly soft trails, providing a good mix for runners and walkers alike. There are no significant elevation changes to speak of; the route remains mostly flat with some gentle undulations.
On race day, participants will start at 5:30 PM from behind the Kane County Government Center and cross the finish line nearby within the forest preserve. A post-race porch party hosted by Bread & Vine located at 318 S. 3rd Street in Geneva is a highlight of the evening where runners can enjoy freshly baked beignets followed by a cold beer.
