Welcome to the 4th Bennachie Ultra Trail Race, an exhilarating off-road adventure set against the stunning backdrop of Scotland's most prominent hill. The race begins and ends at the Bennachie Visitors Centre, offering runners a challenging yet rewarding journey across some of the area’s finest trails. The course spans approximately 17.5 miles with over 3,300 feet of elevation gain, weaving through iconic peaks such as Hermit Seat, Oxen Craig, Little Oxen, Craigshannoch, and Mither Tap. The terrain is rugged and varied, so it's essential to wear sturdy trail shoes for optimal performance. This event not only celebrates the beauty of Bennachie but also supports local causes. COTAG, a dedicated charity, will benefit from race proceeds alongside the Bennachie Visitor Centre itself. As an inclusive event, all are welcome regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation; participants can choose to enter as female, male, or nonbinary. Pre-entry is mandatory for this race and entrants must be at least 18 years old on October 10th, 2026. Any changes in registration details should be communicated by August 31st via info@cgm-ultra.co.uk; refunds and deferrals are not available but swaps can be arranged until the specified date. Race regulations adhere to Scottish Hill Runners guidelines, necessitating a photo ID for race number collection. Participants must carry essential safety gear throughout the event, including waterproof clothing with sealed seams, hat or buff, gloves, and a whistle. External support is prohibited, as are running poles, dogs, and littering. The course’s cupless policy promotes environmental sustainability by providing water stations without disposable cups; runners should bring reusable containers to fill up along the route. While the challenging terrain makes this race unsuitable for wheelchairs, post-race refreshments await all participants at the Visitor Centre alongside a commemorative medal and goodie bag. For more information or assistance with registration details, contact info@cgm-ultra.co.uk. Join us on October 10th to experience the unparalleled beauty of Bennachie and contribute to worthy local causes.

About Aberdeenshire
Learn more about the host city, Aberdeenshire.
Aberdeenshire is a county in the north east of Scotland. It's a long way north - the coastline around Fraserburgh is further north than Newfoundland - but it's mostly lowland, fertile and productive, having more in common with the central belt of Scotland than with the Highlands. To the west rise the Grampian Mountains, with the scenic River Dee flowing out.
