Tom’s Cairn 10k & 5k Trail Races

Birse and Feughside Church serves as the starting point and finish line for both the 10K and 5K races. The race organizers have secured permission from local authorities to use this picturesque venue, which offers ample parking space and registration areas.
The 10K route begins with a scenic trail through Finzean Woods before crossing into open fields where runners will ascend to Tom's Cairn summit for breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. After descending quickly back down to road level, participants continue along community paths until they reach the finish line at Birse and Feughside Church.
For those opting for the 5K race, it starts similarly with a descent from the church into Finzean Estate where runners will explore winding tracks through dense woods and open fields. The route then leads to Turfgate before rejoining estate paths and climbing back up to the finish line at Birse and Feughside Church.
A shorter fun run is also organized for local primary school children, taking them around nearby fields with a festive atmosphere featuring ice cream treats for all participants regardless of their finishing position. Prizes are awarded to winners in this category as well.
All race participants will be greeted upon crossing the finish line with tokens of appreciation and refreshments such as tea or coffee paired with homemade baked goods, adding an extra touch of warmth and community spirit to the event.
