BLUE Events Autumn Endurance Swim

About the Event

On Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, Beccles Lido invites swimmers to challenge themselves with endurance events that cater to all levels. The races include continuous swims for 12 hours, 6 hours, and 3 hours, as well as a unique format of swimming for 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes rest, repeated over the course of 12 or 6 hours.
Event Details:
- Continuous Swim Options: Swimmers can choose to swim continuously without breaks. The event starts at 8:00 AM with options available for both 12-hour and 6-hour races in the morning.

- 30-Minute Intervals: Participants have a more flexible option, swimming for 30 minutes every hour followed by a 30-minute rest period.
Start Times:
- For the full 12 hours of continuous swim, registration begins at 8:00 AM. Relay teams are also welcome.
- The half-day challenge starts with two options in the morning—continuous swims for both six and three hours beginning at various times throughout the day.
Entry Fees:
The cost varies based on duration and relay participation:
- Continuous 12-hour swim costs £100, plus an additional £25 per person if swimming as a team.
- The interval format of 30 minutes swim followed by rest is priced slightly higher at £180 for the full day with relay options available.
Facilities and Support:
Participants will have access to changing rooms, toilet facilities, water safety personnel, first aid services, warming tents, hot drinks from a café (including unlimited coffee and tea), food such as evening BBQ burgers, and hot water bottles. Swimmers must be at least 13 years old; those under 16 need adult supervision.
Rules:
Swimming attire can include any suit or wetsuit but no nudity is allowed. Swim hats and ear plugs are permitted along with some training aids like pull buoys, while fins/flippers, hand paddles, snorkels, or other propulsive devices aren't allowed. Swimmers must adhere to respectful behavior towards others.
Additional Notes:
- The pool will be maintained at a comfortable 28°C.
- No alcohol is permitted on site.
- A limited number of small shelter tents are available; gazebos and large tents are not allowed due to safety regulations.
- Participants are responsible for their actions during the event, ensuring they understand all rules and take necessary precautions.
This event offers swimmers a chance to test their endurance in a supportive environment while raising funds for Beccles Lido Limited (Registered Charity No 1132102).
