UEA and Earlham Park Race Day
Experience the vibrant atmosphere of UEA and Earlham Park on September 20, 2026. This race offers runners an opportunity to explore diverse terrain within the university's sprawling grounds.
The event begins at Porter’s Lodge along University Drive after turning off Watton Road or Earlham Road via B1108. Participants will find ample parking in the main carpark where registration and start/finish lines are also located, ensuring a seamless transition from check-in to race day excitement.
Terrain & Safety Information
The course features a mix of open runnable paths and wooded trails, providing runners with varied landscapes throughout their journey. Runners should be prepared for some woodland sections that add an element of challenge due to the uneven terrain. Full leg cover is essential as parts of the route may include rough ground or underbrush.
Crossing points are strictly limited to two designated bridges over the river; swimming across at any other point is prohibited for safety reasons. Participants must also be mindful of sports activities taking place on pitches and take care when crossing campus roads, which can see vehicular traffic including buses and bicycles.
Dogs are welcome but should remain leashed throughout the event due to high footfall from both runners and dog walkers in shared spaces like Earlham Park. A whistle is recommended for participants as a safety measure.
Course Details
The race map, updated for summer 2026, provides detailed guidance through the course marked at a scale of 1:7,500. Punching stations are set up along the route with both contactless SIAC and manual punching options available should technical issues arise during competition time.
Event Logistics
Parking is free but limited to £1 per car in the main UEA carpark near Earlham Park. Registration opens at 10:00, allowing ample time for participants to familiarize themselves with the course before their start times between 10:15 and 12:15. The event concludes by 14:00 when all courses close.
A first aid kit is available on-site during registration hours, ensuring immediate assistance in case of minor injuries or emergencies. Public toilets are accessible at Earlham Park Cafe’ & Sports Park; however, there may be a fee to enter the sports complex facilities.
