Nestled along the stunning Cornish coastline, the Bude Pirate Run offers runners an unforgettable adventure through Maer Down and Crooklets. This 8-mile trail race is part of the Cornwall Multi Terrain Series and promises to challenge even the most seasoned athletes with its undulating terrain and coastal views. Registration takes place at the Bude Surf Life Saving Club, located conveniently next to Crooklets Beach Car Park where public parking is available for a fee. Participants are advised to register by September 18th, as no changes or entries on race day will be accepted after this date. The entry process requires adjustments and swaps to be made through the SiEntries system. The course winds its way across varied landscapes, including coastal paths, fields, and wooded areas, with a couple of short road sections thrown in for variety. Runners should expect challenging hills and possible muddy conditions if it has rained recently. Water stations are placed at approximately 3 miles and 6 miles along the route, with additional water available at the finish line. Post-race amenities include outdoor showers located behind the public toilets near Crooklets Beach Car Park; however, these facilities may not always be operational due to council management. No baggage storage will be provided, so participants are encouraged to leave their belongings in vehicles parked nearby. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to a hearty pasty as part of their post-race treat, available in steak and cheese & onion or vegal varieties. Entrants signing up after September 11th may not receive a guaranteed pasty due to supplier constraints on gluten-free options. The race also features an exciting prize ceremony for the top three male and female finishers, as well as age category winners across various decades from under-35 to over-80 years old. Additionally, awards will be given to the first affiliated teams in both genders (with four members counted). All prizes are donated by HPT Sport Running Man Bude. For those interested in detailed route information and results, visit the official race website at . The event is governed under Trail Running Association rules which prohibit headphone use during races; runners will also not be allowed to participate with dogs. The Pirate Run presents a unique blend of scenic beauty and athletic challenge in one package, making it an unmissable addition to any runner's calendar.
