Celebrating four decades of tradition and adventure, the Dartmoor Teignbridge Trotters race invites runners to explore one of England's most captivating landscapes. This year, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the event aims to give back to Dartmoor by supporting Moor Trees—a charity dedicated to planting native broadleaf trees across the moors. The race route begins beneath Haytor Rock and winds through rugged terrain for approximately six miles before returning to its starting point. The course is a single lap that features steep ascents and descents, making it both challenging and rewarding. Runners will encounter sections of woodland below Hound Tor and Haytor as well as a stream crossing, adding unique elements to the race experience. Participants are reminded that this event takes place entirely off-road on Dartmoor's open moors, adhering strictly to the Country Code. Dogs and cyclists accompanying runners are not permitted for safety reasons. Race HQ is situated at the Coach Park in the lower car park area, where toilets will be available but no showers or changing facilities. The atmosphere promises to be lively with a BBQ and an array of treats including the renowned Trotters cakes on offer post-race. The event is sanctioned under Association of Running Clubs race permit No. 26/0451 and has a strict limit of 350 runners, which often sells out in advance due to its popularity. Key highlights include: - A water station at Hound Tor around the four-mile mark - Another water station near the finish line - Quality bespoke medals for all participants Additionally, race photos are provided free of charge. Prizes will be awarded to top male and female runners overall as well as in various age categories (MU18, MV40, 45, 50, 55 & 60; FV35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60) plus first team prizes for both genders. Join us on this special evening as we celebrate the beauty and spirit of Dartmoor with a race that combines endurance with scenic splendor.
The event starts at 5:00pm sharp. Please note there is an hour cut-off time at Hound Tor, ensuring all runners are accounted for throughout the challenging course.
