Coach CPD: Essential Cycling Skills

About the Event

Triathlon coaches seeking to enhance their cycling coaching skills are invited to attend an engaging workshop designed specifically for them. This full-day session will delve into the intricacies of effective and safe cycling performance, focusing on body positioning, group riding techniques, drafting strategies, and cornering.
The morning segment from 09:00-11:00 is dedicated to understanding these critical aspects through expert-led instruction. Coaches will learn how to create structured sessions that foster the development of essential skills within their clubs or communities. Practical examples provided by specialist coaches during this period offer a hands-on approach, ensuring participants leave with actionable insights and tools.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own road or gravel bikes along with helmets for an immersive experience. The afternoon session from 12:30-15:00 shifts focus towards practical application as attendees collaborate with experienced coaching teams in delivering cycling skills sessions tailored for youth athletes. This interactive segment allows coaches to put theory into practice and refine their teaching methods under professional guidance.
To participate, individuals must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid British Triathlon coaching qualification such as the Foundation (L1), Group (old L2), or an equivalent certification. The event takes place outdoors, so attendees should dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear warm clothes if necessary.
Registration confirmation will be sent immediately upon sign-up. Participants are advised to arrive at Xcite Leisure Centre 10 minutes before the start time. For any inquiries related to content or logistics, please contact caleasouter@triathlonscotland.org.
