Coleraine Campus 5k (NI&U Championship)

On Friday, August 21, 2026, runners from across Northern Ireland and beyond are invited to participate in the Coleraine Campus 5k at Ulster University's Cromore Road site. This annual race not only serves as a fun event for all levels of athletes but also doubles as the NI & Ulster 5k Road Championship, sanctioned by Athletics Northern Ireland.
The day kicks off with an engaging Junior Mile Fun Run designed to introduce young runners to the excitement and camaraderie of competitive racing. Following this, participants can choose from three distinct 5k races tailored to their abilities:
- The first race is for those who anticipate finishing in a time greater than or equal to 22 minutes.
- The second race caters to athletes with predicted times between 18 and 22 minutes.
- The final elite race welcomes runners capable of completing the course under 18 minutes.
Each race offers its own unique challenge, allowing participants to select an event that best suits their skill level. Runners who enter based on their advertised finish time will find themselves competing alongside others with similar abilities, fostering a supportive and competitive atmosphere.
To ensure fair competition for cash prizes in Races 1 and 2, athletes must not exceed the fastest target times by more than 30 seconds to be eligible for podium awards. However, all participants across races are still eligible for age category prizes regardless of their race selection.
