Cronkley Fell Race

Cronkley Fell Race invites experienced fell runners aged over 18 for an exhilarating journey across the rugged fells of Upper Teesdale. The race, organized by Durham Fell Runners and supported by the FRA, starts at 2:00pm from Low Way Farm in Holwick, a quiet hamlet near Barnard Castle.
The course is a challenging out-and-back route that spans 17 kilometers with over 560 meters of ascent. Participants will navigate through undulating terrain and cross an island in the River Tees before turning back to the finish line at Low Way Farm. The race takes place on open fell, where runners must rely on their navigation skills as there are no marked paths for most of the route.
Registration begins at 12:30pm when participants can collect a map and number from the Farmhouse Kitchen Café. A chip butty and refreshments will be provided post-race.
To ensure safety and success, competitors should come prepared with appropriate gear including navigation aids as there are no flags or markers on the fell sections of the course. The event also offers parking guidance at registration to help participants manage their arrival efficiently.
