Dart Challenge

The Dart Challenge returns for 2026, offering participants the flexibility to fit it into their schedules on any weekday. Whether you’re working shifts, managing childcare responsibilities, retired, or between jobs, this six-hour race is designed with everyone’s needs in mind.
This year, the event has partnered with Green Table Cafe, who will be providing registration and a range of delicious hot drinks and food throughout the day to keep participants fueled and motivated. Additionally, proceeds from the Dart Challenge will support the construction of a new playground at Dartington Hall, adding an extra layer of community engagement to this already popular race.
The course features mixed terrain, including gravel paths, grassy stretches, short sections of tarmac, and occasional mud patches, making it both challenging and scenic. Trail shoes are recommended for optimal grip and comfort on the varied surface. Participants have the option to run with their dogs in a canicross event; details can be found in our FAQ section.
Competitors can aim to complete as many 5k laps as possible within the six-hour time frame, from 9am to 3pm. Whether you’re looking for a casual outing or aiming to push your limits by completing multiple laps and potentially even a marathon (8 laps plus an out-and-back stretch), there’s something here for every runner.
The Dart Challenge offers professional RFID chip timing, fully marked routes with marshals stationed along the way, stunning finisher medals, water stations at regular intervals, access to event facilities including toilets, free parking, on-site medical support from trained professionals, and catering services provided by Green Table Cafe. This well-organized race ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
