On August 16, 2026, Rouyn-Noranda will host the eleventh edition of the Demi-Marathon Moreau. This year's race is particularly special as it marks the city’s centennial celebration with a marathon distance option added to its usual lineup. Runners can choose from several distances including the full Marathon (42.2 km), Half-Marathon, 10km, and 5km routes. For younger participants, there are shorter races of 2.5 km for children aged six to fourteen years old, as well as fun runs of 400m and 800m designed specifically for kids. The race courses wind around the picturesque shores of Lac Osisko, offering runners a scenic backdrop with stunning views throughout their run. Participants will receive commemorative medals upon completion, and there are additional prizes awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each category. Early bird registrants who sign up by July 26th can also look forward to receiving a free race t-shirt. It's important for those interested in participating in any of the races to register ahead of time as on-site registration will be available but at an increased cost. Additionally, parents and guardians are encouraged to pre-register if they plan to accompany their child during the 2.5 km event. The start times vary depending on the distance: - Marathon: Start at 7:00 AM - Half-Marathon: Begin at 8:15 AM - 10km and 5km races follow, starting promptly at 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM respectively. - The fun runs for children begin later in the morning.
