Devon and Cornwall Backyard Ultra

Backyard Ultra invites runners of all levels to push their limits and explore endurance running like never before. The race begins on Saturday, August 29th at 9am with an innovative format: participants run precisely 4.167 miles every hour, starting each lap exactly on the hour. Each circuit must be completed in under 60 minutes, allowing runners to rest and recuperate during any remaining time before the next start.
The event continues until only one runner remains standing, making it a unique test of physical stamina and mental fortitude. Over the past four years, this format has seen numerous participants break personal bests across various distances, from half marathons to ultra-marathon feats such as 100 miles in a single day. The current record stands at an impressive 30 laps held by George.
Entry includes camping accommodations on-site from Friday, August 29th until Sunday, August 31st (or longer if the event extends beyond that date). Additional amenities include hair plaiting services for those with long locks, a free but charitable donation-based service that proved beneficial to last year's winner. The venue also offers an accessible toilet and stoma-friendly sanitary bins to ensure inclusivity.
All proceeds from race entries go directly towards supporting individuals living with bowel cancer and funding crucial research and training initiatives in this field. Participants have the option to purchase XCover, providing a refund should unforeseen circumstances prevent attendance.
