Set against the rugged backdrop of Eastgate in County Durham’s Wear Valley, the NDH Trail Bike TT offers an exhilarating downhill experience for riders of all skill levels. This event is designed specifically for enduro and trail bikes but welcomes any bike you’d typically take out on a leisurely Sunday ride. All participants need to bring along their full-face helmet and ensure they have some end plugs in place.
Riders will tackle a course that’s rated at 3 on the technical scale, making it an ideal starting point for those embarking on their gravity racing journey or a refreshing challenge for experienced riders looking to refine their skills. The trail is suitable for anyone comfortable with Forestry Red grade trails and promises a fun-filled day in the great outdoors.
Upon arrival, racers will find all necessary amenities such as porta-loos and catering options conveniently located near the NDH timing trailer where they’ll sign on before completing two practice runs to get familiarized with the track. Competitors must adhere strictly to British Cycling guidelines and BEMBA’s specific enduro rules for a fair competition.
The race day unfolds with riders starting from a designated area, crossing over a timing transmitter as they begin their descent down the challenging trail. A second transmitter at the finish line ensures accurate timings are recorded, while live results will be displayed on a large TV screen for all to see. The event organizers emphasize safety and provide full medical cover both along the course and from an easily identifiable base station.
Participants should walk the course beforehand to assess any potential hazards or tricky sections and ensure they ride within their own abilities. Protective gear is mandatory, and riders are encouraged to assist anyone who appears injured or in trouble by alerting marshals immediately.
No camping facilities are available on-site, so racers will need to make arrangements elsewhere if necessary.
To secure your spot at the NDH Trail Bike TT, a £20 deposit may be required for timing chips which must be returned upon completion of the event. Failure to do so can result in additional charges. Race cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances such as extreme weather or acts of God will not warrant refunds or transfers.
