Finding Your Words In The Fells - Explore writing with author and poet, Julie Carter, Mindfell
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the heart of Patterdale and Ullswater during our three-day retreat, guided by acclaimed author Julie Carter. From October 19th to 21st, explore the profound connection between nature and creativity as you traverse the fells with a writer who has made a name for herself through her deep understanding of both literature and landscapes. ### Day One: ROCK Kickstart your journey under the guidance of Julie Carter, delving into how rocks shape our emotions and perceptions. Explore their textures and colors while reflecting on themes ranging from fear to awe as you navigate the rugged terrain. In the evening, join Lee Schofield for insightful talks about red deer and mountain flora. ### Day Two: RED DEER Embark on a boat trip across Ullswater before venturing into Martindale Valley. Led by Hiking Highs’ experienced guide Nicky Merrett, this full-day hike takes you deep into the valleys where England’s oldest herd of red deer roam freely. The day is punctuated with reflections and discussions in St Martin's Church, a centuries-old sanctuary nestled amidst the wild beauty. ### Day Three: WATER Conclude your retreat by embracing the fluidity of water as it courses through the fells. Engage with the landscape’s natural elements, from bogs to becks, and let these experiences inspire you to capture your thoughts on paper. The day culminates in a sensory exploration that leaves participants with pages filled with their unique reflections. Throughout this retreat, enjoy home-cooked meals crafted by Hiking Highs, ensuring all dietary needs are met. Each evening offers additional enriching activities like readings and films, adding layers of depth to your experience. ### What's Included: - Two vegetarian lunches - Two evenings of home-cooked dining - Three writing workshops with Julie Carter - Talks on red deer and flora by Lee Schofield - Guided hikes led by a fully qualified Mountain Leader The retreat costs £290 per person, excluding breakfasts and packed lunches.
