Fox Chapel & O'Hara Township 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run

About the Event

2025 Race Registration IS OPEN!!!

On Saturday, September 6th, the Fox Chapel Parks Conservancy, in partnership with O’Hara Township, will host a community fun run through our scenic parks and trails. This inclusive, family-friendly event is a celebration of health, wellness, and local connection, encouraging neighbors of all ages to enjoy the outdoors together.

Course Information

5K Run: 7:30am

The 5K kicks off with a loop around the wide paths of O’Hara Park before joining the Salamander Trail and weaving through Fay and Salamander Parks. Runners will circle the newly redeveloped McCahill Park, then return via the opposite side of Salamander Park, following the trail back to O’Hara for a final lap around the pond. A picturesque and engaging course for both casual and seasoned runners.

1-Mile Fun Run: 8:45am

The 1-Mile Fun Run begins in O’Hara Township Community Park, tracing the northern perimeter trail before turning onto the scenic Salamander Trail for a brief out-and-back along the peaceful Sycamore Run River. A final lap around the O’Hara Park pond completes this family-friendly course — ideal for participants of all ages and experience levels.

For everyone’s safety, please no strollers or dogs on the course.

Community Activities

After the run, stick around for refreshments, music, kids’ activities, and local vendor booths. Meet your neighbors, visit sponsor tents, and enjoy a few surprises along the trails. All community members, friends, and families are welcome - whether you’re racing or cheering from the sidelines.

The morning kicks off with a lively pre-race gathering and the singing of the national anthem.

Parking Details

Parking is provided for free at O'Hara Elementary School with complimentary shuttle buses driving to and from the start line throughout the morning. Shuttle service will begin approximately 6:45am.

All proceeds directly support the work of the Fox Chapel Parks Conservancy, helping maintain and improve the local parks and trails in our communities.

Chip timing and live race results will be provided by Wolf Creek Race Management.

About Pittsburgh

Learn more about the host city, Pittsburgh.

Scenic view of

The pleasure of Pittsburgh remains a well-kept secret. Though not built up by reputation, the city's unique combination of bridges, steep hills, and broad rivers make it one of the most naturally scenic cities in the country. Cheap food and beer abound in this true sports town and the locals are amazingly friendly. A city of about 303,000 (2021) in Allegheny County, at the center of a metro area of about 2.4 million in southwestern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh is situated at the confluence of three rivers: the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River. The city's unique terrain has resulted in an unusual city design and a hodge-podge of unique neighborhood "pockets" with diverse ethnic and architectural heritage. Pittsburgh has a rich history and, for its size, an unusual array of cultural treasures, largely thanks to the wealth that was generated when Pittsburgh was a hub of industry.
