Galloway Hillbillies Bike Club is excited to introduce an endurance challenge to its lineup of events, marking the club's tenth anniversary at Kirroughtree. The 7-hour Endurance Event invites participants to explore over 7 miles of varied terrain within Galloway Forest Park. This course features a mix of red and blue trails, forest roads, and natural sections, providing riders with an exhilarating blend of technical singletrack and smooth riding. The goal is simple: accumulate as many laps as possible during the allocated time frame. Riders must start their final lap by 4:40 PM to ensure they can complete it within the event's closing hour at 5:20 PM, giving everyone ample opportunity to maximize their mileage. The highlight of this course lies in Kirroughtree’s renowned singletrack trails, which wind through lush forests and offer unforgettable moments on two wheels. Race day begins with registration from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a race briefing at 9:50 AM right before the start time of 10:00 AM. Camping is available for those looking to stay overnight in the area and can be booked alongside your entry. Participants have several options when it comes to categories: solo riders, pairs teams, or trios. Additionally, there are specific e-bike categories limited to electric bikes with a top speed of 15.5 mph, ensuring fair competition among all participants. The event is organized by Galloway Hillbillies Bike Club, which operates on a non-profit basis and aims to foster camaraderie among mountain bikers in the region. Riders must be at least 14 years old to participate. Withdrawals are accepted up to one month before the race date with a £5 processing fee; no refunds will be given within this period.
