Experience the thrill and beauty of Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park at the Grantown-on-Spey Triathlon, held annually during summer. This picturesque setting in Strathspey offers an inviting atmosphere for triathletes of all experience levels, especially novices eager to take on a challenge.
The event features three distinct disciplines: swimming 300 meters (15 lengths of a standard pool), cycling 16 kilometers through stunning highland landscapes around the Grantown Braes, and running 4.8 kilometers through Anagach Community woods. Participants can choose from individual or team formats, with teams consisting of two to three members. For juniors under 18 years old, there’s a special junior team relay option at an affordable price point.
Entry fees are as follows:
- Individual: £35.00
- Team (2 or 3): £66.00
- Junior Team Relay (under 18): £35.00
The event is open to individuals aged 11 and older, though children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult during the cycling portion for safety reasons. For younger participants, teams are a great way to engage in the competition while ensuring supervision.
Safety measures include lifeguards at the pool for swimming and marshalled routes with first aid-trained volunteers throughout both cycling and running stages. Parents or guardians can accompany young runners along minor roads on mountain bikes if necessary.
