Great Chalfield 10K Road Race The Great Chalfield 10K is set to take runners through the charming landscapes of Wiltshire, starting and finishing at Broughton Gifford Village Hall. This inaugural edition aims to carry forward the legacy established by Darren from Stampede Sports over the past decade and a half. Participants will embark on this scenic journey just after sunset, beginning their run shortly before 7:30 PM. The route leads runners through picturesque areas surrounding Holt Manor and Great Chalfield House, offering stunning views of historic architecture and serene countryside. Registration for the race is available from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Broughton Gifford Village Hall on the day before the event. Here, you can collect your race number and prepare for a memorable evening run under the guidance of experienced organizers who will ensure everyone's safety throughout the course. The race itself is meticulously measured according to UKA standards, ensuring an accurate distance that challenges runners while maintaining fairness across all categories. Prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers along with specific age group winners (V40, V50, V60, V70) as well as the first-place Broughton Gifford residents. All participants will receive a medal upon completion of their 10K journey, celebrating both personal achievements and community support. The event supports local initiatives such as the Broughton Gifford and Holt Scout Group, further enriching its significance for runners and spectators alike. Toilets are available at designated points along with one water station to help participants stay hydrated during their run. First aid coverage is provided throughout the course, ensuring that everyone's health remains a priority. Parking instructions guide competitors towards The Common near Broughton Gifford Village Hall; organizers encourage carpooling and respectful behavior toward fellow runners and local residents. Age restrictions apply—participants must be at least 16 years old on race day—and it is important to note that no roads will close for the event, so please stay alert. Dogs are not permitted due to safety concerns, but bone conduction headphones may be used with discretion from the Race Director's approval. Entrance fees vary based on affiliation status: £22 for affiliated runners and £24 for unattached participants aged 16 or older. Early registration is encouraged as race entries close by July 10th, 2026, or sooner if capacity limits are reached. Merchandise such as buffs, bib clips, and a special edition mug can be pre-ordered online and collected on the day of the event. Designs for these items will soon be available to view on Facebook. Join us in celebrating this unique evening run where history meets athletics against the backdrop of Wiltshire's enchanting countryside.
