The Great Yarmouth Half Marathon, organized by the dedicated Great Yarmouth Road Runners club, returns this summer with another picturesque run through Norfolk and Suffolk. This 21-mile journey offers runners an enchanting blend of tranquil countryside lanes and the grandeur of Somerleyton Hall. As part of the Norfolk County Championship series and the eleventh race in the SPORTLINK GRAND PRIX 2026, this event promises competitive spirit along with scenic beauty. The undulating course takes participants through charming villages like Ashby and Lound before looping back to the historic grounds of Somerleyton Hall. Water stations are strategically placed throughout the route to ensure runners stay hydrated during their run. Race HQ at Ormiston Venture Academy in Great Yarmouth serves as both the starting point and finish line, offering ample facilities for participants including parking, a hall for number collection, restrooms, warm-up areas, and refreshments. The entry fee is £26 for affiliated members and £28 for unaffiliated runners. All participants receive a medal and race t-shirt upon completion of the event. Prizes include trophies for the first male and female finishers as well as team and age group awards. Additionally, defending your title comes with free entry to next year's race. Due to road closures and safety measures in place, there is a strict 3-hour cut-off time. Runners who anticipate finishing after this limit are encouraged to opt for an early wave start at 9:30 AM by selecting the appropriate option during registration. It’s important to note that those opting for the earlier start will not be eligible for race prizes or points. The minimum age requirement on race day is 17 years old, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Personal belongings can be left in the sports hall at your own risk; neither Great Yarmouth Road Runners nor Ormiston Venture Academy assumes responsibility for any loss or damage to personal items left unattended. For safety reasons on open roads, headphones are not permitted during the race so that runners remain aware of traffic and marshal instructions. Join us this summer for a memorable run through some of England's most beautiful landscapes. The Great Yarmouth Half Marathon is more than just a race; it’s an experience to cherish with its stunning scenery and supportive community atmosphere.
