This cryptid is known for its chilling green eyes that seem to pierce through the darkness, captivating those who dare to venture into its domain.
On October 17th, 2026, Ridge & Valley Adventures invites runners and adventurers alike to partake in the Green Eyes Gallop, a thrilling event set against the backdrop of this haunting lore. The race offers both a scenic 5K and an exhilarating 10K route through downtown Chickamauga and its newly established Wetlands Trail. For those seeking even more excitement, there's also the Monster Mile, which loops around the picturesque Helicopter Park.
The event promises to be not just a run but a celebration of creativity and camaraderie. Participants are encouraged to embrace their inner cryptid by dressing up in costumes that reflect the eerie yet whimsical nature of Old Green Eyes. Whether you're running solo or with friends, this race is designed for all ages and abilities.
The 5K/10K races kick off at 9:00 am sharp, while the Monster Mile begins promptly at 10:15 am. All runners will receive a swag bag filled with exclusive Green Eyes merchandise upon completion of their chosen distance. The top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K races will also be awarded podium prizes.
In addition to the racing, the event features an elaborate costume contest that challenges participants to showcase originality and craftsmanship through themed outfits. Categories include individual costumes, partner pairs, group ensembles, and a special division for kids aged 12 and under who are running in their own right or as part of adult groups.
The Green Eyes Festival will be held concurrently with the race, offering live music, craft vendors, and an array of local cuisine to enjoy. The festival is free to attend and promises to capture the essence of northwest Georgia’s unique folklore.
