Port Talbot Harriers invites you to the 2026 GV70.Tri, an inclusive and welcoming middle-distance race designed for athletes of all abilities. This unique triathlon offers participants the flexibility to choose their level of engagement while encouraging everyone to complete as much of the course as possible without any disqualifications. The event features a scenic sea swim with two laps in the open water, followed by a bike ride on a 2-lap route that winds through picturesque coastal landscapes. The race concludes with an easy-to-navigate pancake-flat run across three laps, ensuring participants can focus on their performance rather than navigating challenging terrain. A relay option is also available for those who wish to team up and experience the event together. Cut-off times are in place to ensure safety: 1 hour and 10 minutes for the swim segment, 5 hours combined for both swimming and cycling, and a final cut-off of 7 hours and 45 minutes. Should participants appear to struggle at any point during the race, marshals will assist them back to the finish line. All proceeds from this event are donated to local charities in Neath Port Talbot, supporting important causes within the community. In addition to the main triathlon, there's a Teleri Mia Mini Mile and an Aberavon Surf Lifesaving Club Junior Aquathlon for younger participants. The Teleri Mia Mini Mile offers three distances tailored to different age groups: - Dinas: A 200m race for children up to 7 years old. - Foel: An 800m lap around the Little Warren playing fields for kids aged 7 to 9. - Afan: Two laps of the Little Warren playing fields, covering a total distance of 1600 meters, designed for children who are 10 or 11 years old. Entry fees start at £10 per child and all participants will receive commemorative items from the Teleri Mia Foundation. If financial constraints prevent any family from participating, contact can be made with the foundation through Facebook or Instagram to arrange alternative options. The Junior Aquathlon is open to age groups ranging from TriStar 2/3 (ages 11-14) and Youth A/B & Junior (ages 15-19). It includes a beach start followed by an exhilarating swim in sheltered waters near Aberavon Beach, with spectators positioned on the pier for support. Participants then transition into a flat coastal run. Parking is available nearby at no cost or minimal fee along with toilet facilities and refreshments to keep everyone energized throughout the day.
