Experience the John Brown Time Trial Series, where passion for cycling meets friendly competition and peanuts! Spanning four thrilling evenings from June 11 to September 10, this series caters to all skill levels with its diverse race formats. The John Brown Time Trial Emporium ensures there’s a category that suits every cyclist, whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out. The courses are designed for speed and camaraderie on Kansas's flattest terrain. Each 5-mile route runs predominantly west to east along the river bottoms northwest of DeSoto, offering scenic views and challenging yet manageable hills. Participants can test their TT bikes against road models in solo races or team up with a friend for duo events – including coed duos that add an extra layer of fun. Race intervals are tight, ranging from 30 to 60 seconds apart based on the number of racers signed up. After your initial race, there's a brief break where you can switch gears and bikes before tackling another time trial. While racing twice is optional, it’s included in the $25 entry fee. The series boasts an impressive range of categories: men and women open, along with specific age groups from 40 to 60+. Additional unique categories like First Timer, Triathlete, Aero, Modern Merckx, Retro Merckx, Single Speed, Duo (and coed), and even a Cheater Class for those who break the rules. Each category has its own set of rules ensuring fair play. The John Brown Time Trial Emporium is known for its commitment to cycling growth through friendly races. Whether you're looking to improve your time or simply enjoy the atmosphere, this series offers something special. Don't miss out on these evenings filled with speed and camaraderie! Registration opens after 5:45 PM at DeSoto's Riverfest Park (33440 W 79th St). Remember to use the restroom before you start as there are no facilities available during the race.
